dship Carriers and NSB Group launch Hinode Shipmanagement for new MPP vessels

Hamburg/Buxtehude, April 23, 2026 – The German shipping company dship Carriers and ship manager NSB Group have joined forces by establishing the joint venture Hinode Shipmanagement to manage dship’s next generation of MPP vessels.

Based in Buxtehude, Germany, Hinode Shipmanagement is designed as a focused setup tailored to the specific requirements of a modern MPP fleet. It brings together dship Carriers’ commercial and operational expertise with NSB Group’s technical and ship management capabilities. At the same time, NSB Group continues to expand its maritime portfolio, partnering with dship Carriers, a well-established player in the MPP market.

At the center of the joint venture are six modern D500 newbuildings, currently under construction at Chinese shipyards and scheduled for delivery between June 2026 and the end of 2027. Designed with demanding project cargo in mind, the MPP vessels feature a deadweight of 14,999 tons and Liebherr cranes offering up to 500 tons of combined lifting capacity. Measuring 149.95 meters in length and 23.5 meters in breadth, they are built for flexibility in operation. A distinctive design feature is the deckhouse positioned on the starboard side, freeing up additional deck space and maximizing intake and payload capacity.

Hinode Shipmanagement will assume full management of the newbuildings. While NSB Group oversees construction through its newbuilding department and supports the joint venture with selected services, including accounting and crewing, dship Carriers takes responsibility for commercial management and contributes its technical expertise.

The company will be led by Lars Feller, Chief Executive Officer of dship Carriers, and Managing Director Markus Thewes, Chief Commercial Officer of NSB Group.

Lars Feller, CEO of dship Carriers, says: “We have a tried and tested approach: if something calls for a dedicated setup, we build it. Hinode is exactly that – a focused setup for the D500 and MPP vessels in general, built together with a partner that brings the necessary skills, experience, and transparency. It’s straightforward, hands-on, and exactly how we like to work.”

Tim Ponath, CEO of NSB Group adds: “With Hinode Shipmanagement, we are consistently building on NSB’s long-term experience in managing complex vessels – from offshore and jack-up newbuildings to modern MPP tonnage. Having accompanied the D500 project from the newbuilding phase onwards, moving into full ship management together with a strong cargo partner like dship Carriers is a logical next step.”
